Are you aware of the messages your emotions provide you? They give you specific feedback, and if you knew what those messages were, you would soon enjoy the flow of your emotions with intention and control.
Giving you so much inner peace and freedom
For ex. Say you’re stressed out in a relationship…
The reason why you’re feeling stressed is because you’re choosing to focus on the aspects of your partner you dislike or get annoyed about.
You’re thinking “ Well, yeah? It does annoy me!” or “They shouldn’t be doing that!”
Well, maybe. But the next boy or girl in their life wouldn’t care about it, they probably wouldn’t even notice that thing they do that annoys the hell out of you.
So it’s your perspective and the meaning you are putting on that circumstance.
Same thing goes for anything in life.
When you attach meaning to a thing or circumstance you don’t like, you are going to feel negative emotion.
Life is about being able to view things from a different perspective, even if things feel very real. Very hard. Very scary. (trust me, I’ve been there)
Once you detach from a meaning that you’ve given it, you can take your life giving power back, and apply it to another aspect and area of your life that can actually help improve your life,
Instead of being stuck with a negative emotion, from a negative perspective.
So, going back to the same ex. Your partner is doing that thing you don’t like and it annoys and triggers you…
What if you stopped… disliking it.
What if it was like the first day you both met?
You just see all their beauty and joy.
That part of them is still there.
During the relationship you started looking for something to be “wrong” or possible “improvements” that can happen, and there’s nothing wrong with improvements. But you didn’t have to attach a negative story to that thing that can be improved, thus bringing in negative emotion.
And this can be applied to almost all areas of your life.
So to circle back,
The reason why you feel negative emotions, is because you are looking at a circumstance in your life from a negative lens, and when you view that thing from a negative lens, you create a negative story, that makes you feel bad.
That’s the process of how an emotion unfolds.
And your emotions can have stories tied back all the way to childhood, that’s where childhood trauma stems from.
But, you don’t continue living that way.
You decide that you’re ready to live your life with peace, fulfillment, and love.
You decide that those are the emotions you want to experience life from.
